National Association of Social Workers 2012 Conference

As you may know, the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) is putting together a wonderful conference Restoring Hope: The Power of Social Work in Washington, D.C.. Unfortunately, if you haven’t already reserved your spot, you will not be able to attend because the conference is already sold out 🙁

Key workshops include:

  • Leadership and the Power of Social Work
  • Building Resiliency after Trauma
  • New Understandings of Grief and Practice
  • Hope for Our Children
  • Building Hope with Honor for Veterans and Military Families
  • Social Work is the Profession of Hope
  • Interface of Ethics and the Law
  • Cultural Competence as a Practice Perspective
  • Surviving and Thriving in an Uncertain Economy
  • Military Culture 101
  • Trauma-Based Therapy for Helping Victims and Perpetrators
  • Reducing Risk and Promoting Well-Being for LGBT Children

Fortunately, after the conference concludes, NASW members will have a chance to view online a few of the wonderful presentations given at the conference.

In addition, NASW is currently holding an essay contest through July 25th for all social workers and social work students on the topic of hope !

Specifically, you are asked to write (in 500 words or less) an essay addressing the question, “why do you believe that social work is the profession of hope?”

The two lucky winners whose essays will be selected will each receive an iPad!

For more information on the contest please visit: http://www.socialworkers.org/nasw/conferences/hope2012/documents/HopeEssayContest.pdf

With gratitude to Mozart whose tweet via @AuntBertha alerted me to this contest.

Is this a contest that you would like to enter? It could be fun 🙂
